Learning & Education Toys

As the parent of a toddler you know that toys are not merely for fun but for teaching valuable skills. We have assembled a collection of what we consider to be the best toddler's toys currently on the market. You don't have to be a fitness guru to get your kids an awesome, healthy toy.

Many of these will probably look familiar to you and you may have even had one of these when you were growing up. No sense in reinventing the wheel, right?

When our son was learning to walk, this toy came in handy. Not only was it fun to play with the different sounds on the keyboard, and watch the gears go around, but it functioned as a walker. It is sturdy and durable, not to mention colorful. For about $25, it is hard to argue with such a great educational toy that will help equip your child with better balance and a lot of fun in the process.

This is one of those toys that I remember from nursery school. For some reason there is a great deal of delight in pushing the button and watching a cute little monkey or elephant pop out of their box accompanied by  a sound. Push it back down, and the fun starts all over again.made by Playskool, this is extremely easy for your child to learn how to press, twist, and turn different knobs. It also helps to familiarize the child with different shapes, animals, and a sense of discovery.
I am sure you remember the classic xylophone, made by Fisher-Price. Kids can use the string to pull it from room to room, where they can put on a small concert with the instrument. The brilliant thing about the new version of this toy is that they have attached the mallet to the string so that it does not get lost. With eight different tones, your child is guaranteed to become the next Beethoven
Once again this is another toy that will look familiar to many adults. The new twist on this is that the screen folds to reveal even more sounds and animals than the one you probably knew when you were a child. The scene say teaches children about animals, animal sounds, and helps them, through a randomized spinning device, to anticipate and recognize patterns.
I do not remember who it was that bought this toy for our son, but it was one of his favorites, and as his parents, we liked it to. There are so many things you can do with this toy, because each time you flip one of the cards, there is a new game or puzzle or scene that your child can interact with. from counting to ABC's two animals and beyond, this is an absolutely fascinating educational toy that any toddler would love. One of my favorite features is that it has the ability to make the volume loud or soft, depending on how patient you are feeling that day.  :-)
Speaking of patience, I have yet to find a child who can resist playing a small set of drums. It is almost like it is hardwired into children, but this toy a is much less noisy than putting your pots and pans on the floor and letting them bang away with a wooden spoon. With a cymbal and three drums, each with its own sound, your kids can play along to a variety of maladies and choose from four different drum sounds. Moreover, there is also a function that allows the child to play using letters, numbers, or a Simon says type follow along. It is less than $20, and teaches a host of motor skills as well as helping them to visually recognize numbers and shapes. This is a valuable and worthwhile toy for any toddler.

For the older child, somewhere between 2.5– 4 years old, blocks are the ideal 'quiet time'toy. It will teach her child spatial and fine motor skills, and with much larger building surface than the typical Lego's, these are durable and washable, which is great because as they are teething, kids love to chew on these!
